Hello everyone. I am sorry to delay my entry this week for the blog. Thanks go to Dean for setting this up. I enjoy reading about everyone's activities. Here's a summary of my schedule this last week:
Monday- 2- hour meeting with the Tip Off Club (TOC) to made final plans for JV Tournament. WATCHED 24 & Heroes!!!
Tuesday- Attend John's basketball game- they lost Parkview but they were ahead for 3 1/2 quarters and had the game won. John played a good solid game. The coach put in some players who hadn't played the whole game and in one instance hasn't played much varsity at all this year. We ended up with lots of turnovers and losing the game by 7. By the way, I'm sure you all heard that John was the first white basketball payer to dunk for Grayson HS. He did it against Brookwood last Friday. It was awesome.
Wednesday- attend Mutual where they had a career night. I talked about real estate. Then played 2 hours of basketball with the ward.
Thursday- Attend Kristi's bball game which ended at 6:00 (they lost). At 7:30 we hosted at our house a meeting where Jim Crawley from LDS Philanthropies came to talk to people about donating money to the church. We had 7 people here (Browns, Stewarts, Flanders, Faircloughs). The night was quite enjoyable.
Friday: Get ready for the JV Tournament and watched John play basketball. They lost again to South but the game was amazing. We were behind by 17 at the end of quarter 1. Down by 16 at halftime. Down by 10 at the end of the 3rd. We actually went ahead for the first time with 7 seconds to go in the game with South out of time outs. After we made our shot, they dribbled down and made a three point shot to win with no time left. Grayson's team showed a lot of heart. We keep knocking on the door -- one day we will win our share of games.
Saturday- JV Tournament from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm for which the TOC is responsible, but I can't be there during the morning and afternoon games. The V.P. of the TOC, Tim Loudermilk, takes charge of everything and it runs smoothly. I was with George Ryskamp, Director of the Family History Dept. at BYU, who came out with Jim Crawley. George did a day long seminar on Family History for our stake. One session in english and the other in spanish. We had 60 people attend the english and about 17 attend the spanish session. I was responsible for setting up the meeting and making sure everything went as planned. That meeting was over by 5:00 so I went to the JV tournament and I ran the score clock for the last two games of the day. Needless to say, I am a little tired today (Sunday) but grateful that everything worked out well.
I am attaching some pictures from Christmas and some basketball pictures of John and Kristi you might enjoy. Have a great week!
Love,
Dad
