Sadly enough, today was our last day in Jerusalem. We started early this morning by taking an underground tour of some of the tunnels that date back to Herodian times. It was very interesting. Too much to type it all, but we had a very nice history lesson during it.
We then went to the Temple Mount, which is where the Dome of the Rock is. It is so beautiful! The tile work is so extraordinary!!! We really enjoyed the atmosphere, and especially thinking of all the history behind the entire area.
We ate another falafel for lunch. This time it wasn't as good because we bought it from a shady place right across the way from a line of about 10 bong smokers. It was hilarious. We were a little disappointed when we walked another few feet and saw a clean, fresh, falafel stand. Oh well. Live and learn. It was actually worth it to see the bong smokers though.
We then went to meet up with a girl named Julie Stoner(not a bong smoker) that we met at church. She gave us a tour of the BYU Center and then came with us to walk around the Old City. We spent more and more and more and more money.
Then we rode a donkey. And a camel. On the Mount of Olives. Yeah. Pretty cool. The camel's name was Kojack - which apparently turned Brooke on because she tried to get some kissing action from him. He wasn't interested. Not only was he not interested, but he tried biting her face off. You can only imagine her reaction.
We finally started heading home - but for some reason, even after being in the Jerusalem Central Station many times, Brooke and I somehow got separated from each other. I started going down the escalaters, thinking she was following, but apparently not. She was up at a booth, turning in circles trying to figure out where I was. It was hilarious when we finally found each other and told our stories. But we are home now and completely exhausted! I can't believe we are already leaving tomorrow night! It has been such a satisfying trip for both of us. We'll be very sad to leave. But Spencer, if you are reading this, I can't wait to see you!! And of course the rest of the family....
